56 EXTERIOR

The Bluewater 56 deck layout is designed for safe, efficient offshore sailing first, and remains eminently comfortable for anchored and dockside entertaining and relaxing. The side decks are wide for moving fore and aft safely in even the roughest conditions and with on-deck handrails, mid-deck shrouds, and industry leading 34-inch high stanchions made from 1 ¼” thick-walled stainless steel tubing, there are literally handholds everywhere. The 34-inch high wrap-around stern pulpit extends all the way forward to the opening gate at the forward end of the cockpit while the same height bow pulpit extends aft past the windlass plating. Secure. Safe. Strong. Beyond the necessary starting points, each owner puts their experience and design ethos into their individual boats and that individuality shines through. In-mast furling, in-boom furling, standard jiffy-reefing mainsails? Yes. Carbon-fiber mast and boom? If you like. Electric, hydraulic, line-driven genoa furler? Yes. Cutter rig? Sure. Removeable staysail stay? Why not? Bow sprit and stern pulpit seats? Absolutely. And don’t get us started on decking material, cockpit table design, and hard and soft dodgers and biminis. Each owner works with our in-house designers to create the deck layout that will work best for them. The collaboration is a wonderful process that produces a unique, personal, home on the water.

56 INTERIOR

The Bluewater 56 was conceived as a passagemaking cruising boat for a family of adventurers. The saloon is open with six and half feet of headroom and will easily accommodate a party of 12 for cocktails and a family of eight for dinner at the saloon table to port. Just the table can be built in a number of configurations from fixed, to raising up and down to form a sleeping area or cocktail table height. Customization here is well received. The settee to starboard is a great place to lounge and makes a good sea berth of so designed. The interior panels and solid wood doors can be made in a number of styles of various woods, including teak and oak. Teak, teak and holly, or bamboo floors are available in varied panel widths It is worth noting that all floor pieces have positive latches, so they won’t move or get loose when things get bumpy at sea. Off-white overhead panels finish out the interior overall look. The large, tinted, wraparound windows in the saloon provide plenty of light without too much heat. The master suite aft has a raised centerline double berth that will be easy to make up and comfortable to climb in and out of from both sides. There is ample storage space and hanging lockers for a couple living aboard in a variety of climes, and with opening ports on both sides and a large hatch overhead, ventilation will be great in the tropics. The master head is huge, with lots of lockers and a true separate shower stall. Furniture is built with traditional care. You will find louvered doors, solid door panels, fitted solid wood corner posts, and nicely handcrafted laminate pieces in the heads. The galley area is truly varied from boat to boat. Refrigeration is a personal preference and can be made quite versatile with new insulated drawer fridges and fride/freezers. Custom sinks, faucets, counter-tops, cabinetry style and material choices will keep any designer busy for days. Ice makers, coffee makers, bread makers, all leaving plenty of storage for the food itself make the Bluewater 56 galley a cooks pleasure. For some, the forward cabin, with its V-berth right up in the bow and large overhead hatch with opening hull ports, is quite a nice place to lounge around. There is a large hanging locker, substantial drawer storage, and significant under-berth storage. If this is the guest cabin, remember that they may never want to leave. Between the main saloon and forward cabin is a head and separate shower to starboard and most owners opt for a double berth in the mid-cabin location. The storage under the berth is truly remarkable. For the electronics and electrical geeks among us the nav station, located to port and across from the galley, is a wonder. Electrical installation is far superior to industry standard and there is room for all the electronics one could want. The nerve center of the Bluewater 56, the nav station has everything you need to know where you are, talk to anyone, and still store a plethora of full-sized paper charts. It’s a remarkable space.

Hull & Deck

At Bluewater Yachts, our hulls are engineered with Twaran, a cutting-edge carbon aramid fiber, combined with alternating FRP glass layers. This coreless construction, reinforced with vinyl ester resins and isophthalic gel coat, ensures durability and longevity. Below the waterline, two epoxy barrier coats provide optimal protection, topped with two coats of Micron CSC Bottom Paint. For safety, our yachts feature a watertight collision bulkhead forward of the forward cabin with independent drainage, and watertight stern sections across the aft lazarettes and stern locker. The divided anchor locker includes a separate compartment for fenders and dock lines, while large aft stern lazarettes on both port and starboard sides are secured with dual Bailey latches for a watertight seal. The stem garage is equipped with a dedicated Rule Auto bilge pump with manual override, and a very large step-down sail locker offers 5' deep by 4' long deck hatch access for ample storage. Our solid lead keel is anchored by 35mm stainless steel keel bolts with transverse-mounted 8mm backing plates, and a fully skegged rudder ensures optimal performance and grounding protection. Deck areas feature solid GRP fiberglass for strength, with molded non-skid surfaces available in Linen Beige or Whisper Grey. A solid stainless steel head fitting with a split bow roller accommodates stowage for a 55 lb Delta, Rocna, or Spade anchor, complemented by solid stainless striker plates for added bow protection. Additional features include a saltwater washdown pump for anchor maintenance, stainless steel 12" bow, midship, and stern cleats, 32" high stanchions with double lifelines, a side boarding ladder with port and starboard mounting brackets, and Manship 316 stainless overhead hatches and ports throughout the vessel. These meticulously crafted features ensure that every Bluewater Yacht offers superior safety, durability, and performance.

Mechanical & Electrical

Bluewater Yachts are powered by a robust Yanmar BY150hp 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine, equipped with cockpit controls and a comprehensive alarm system for safety and performance. The Morse single lever control system prevents high RPM gear shifting, protecting your engine. Fuel management is optimized with a dual Racor fuel filtration system, featuring independent filters and a bypass system, supported by a Walborough inline fuel pump that allows engine bypass for filtration, eliminating the need for engine bleeding if fuel supply is lost. A two-way oil change pump is directly plumbed to the primary engine, genset, and transmission for convenience. The yacht’s wiring is fully tinned and compliant with ABYC and CE standards, ensuring long-lasting reliability. All thru-hull fittings are made from solid bronze and are fully bonded for maximum durability. Powering the yacht are four AGM 8D house batteries, providing a total of 840 amp/hr, securely boxed and isolated with a reverse isolation switch. Additional batteries include two 8D house batteries dedicated to the windlass and bow thruster (if equipped) with 675 amp/hr total, and an AGM 4D engine starting battery with 150 amps. The system includes a high-output 130A Master Volt alternator dedicated to the house bank and a 60A alternator for the engine battery. A Protech 50 amp built-in battery charger ensures all batteries stay charged, even when connected to shore power. For safety, the engine room features fire retardant sound insulation, and two independent bilge pump systems (Rule and Par) provide a total pumping capacity of 2,500 gallons per hour, both equipped with float switches. The Mamba Solid Drive system replaces the traditional chain and cable design, ensuring smoother operation. Navigation is made easy with Raymarine depth sounder, speed log, and wind speed indicator, while comprehensive navigation lights include running lights, masthead anchor, tricolor, steaming, and foredeck lights. With these advanced systems, Bluewater Yachts deliver unmatched reliability, safety, and performance for your sailing adventures.

Rig & Rigging

Bluewater Yachts are equipped with a Selden anodized aluminum mast featuring a triple V-spreader rig for enhanced strength and durability. The Hasselford standing rigging uses Sta-lock mechanical fittings, eliminating swage fittings at the deck for added security. Forward and aft lowers with individual chain plates ensure maximum rig stability. For superior performance, the discontinuous rigging system increases strength while reducing hardware wear. The Furlex 400 Series Roller Furling Forestay allows smooth sail handling. Each yacht comes equipped with premium Doyle sails, including a mainsail and a 135% genoa with a protective Sunbrella cover. Both the mainsail and genoa feature primary and secondary halyards for flexibility, and halyard bales are fitted on the forward dorades for added convenience.
